My Story
In 1981, my family moved to Corona, and I attended Corona Junior High and Corona High School. I continued my education at RCC, where I earned an AS degree, and UCR, where I earned a BA degree in Public Policy. In 2000, when population exploded, and new schools opened up beyond Ontario Avenue, I began serving our community by planning events and programs that helped create a sense of belonging for our newest members. Today, I continue to serve our schools and community. The areas that have been the most rewarding are the legislative work that I have helped to advance on behalf of PTA and parent engagement. For the last fifteen years, I have advocated for children and public schools at the local, state, and national level. During my tenure, we have advocated for flexible spending, which became the catalyst for passing the Local Control Funding Formula in California. I also volunteer as a Parent Engagement Facilitator, where I teach parents how to effectively advocate for their children.
